The UCCS Department of Counseling and Human Services (CHS) has operated as a stand-alone program since 1967. The Department offers the degree of Master of Arts in Counseling and Human Services. Programs exist for school counselors, community counselors, and student affairs professionals.

Alternative Licensure Program (ALP) (719-255-4526)
The Alternative Licensure Program (ALP) is a one-year intensive program that leads to recommendation for Colorado provisional licensure. The program has its own complete admission process beyond the admission requirements of the University. The Alternative Licensure Program seeks self-motivated, committed, resourceful individuals who can readily assume teaching roles in a public school classroom. Examples are para-professionals, substitute teachers, career change individuals, retired military or those who have the background and potential for successfully completing this rigorous, fast-paced program.

Arts & Humanities : Heller Center (719-330-3463)
The Heller Center for Arts and Humanities at CU-Colorado Springs is located on a 500-acre property adjacent to the campus that was donated to the university in 1999. Appointed in July 2003, director Perrin Cunningham has already raised more than $100,000 in donations to renovate the property, which in three years will become an exhibition complex with housing for artists in residence.
